demo 2 October 2003 |
A brand NEW demo is now available for you to download and play!
The new demo features loads of new wormy things for you to get your teeth into -
two new levels, a new weapon set, a 2 player game and a single player game against
mid-strength AI. Previous compatibility problems have been sorted too
This is a great opportunity for you to get a feel of what the final game will be like,
as the new demo is based on the finished game code. Compatibility problems from demo 1
have been fixed, so the new demo will now run on all processors - including machines
with pre-AthlonXP processors and machines running Microsoft Windows 98, NT.
Due to a massive response, we will be adding alternative download locations as soon as
we have them, so bookmark and return if you are having problems downloading the demo
successfully from a particular source.
Chose a mirror on the right to download the NEW demo from, and then test out Worms
in full 3D!

| FAQs |
How many demos are there?
Three different demos are available at the moment. Leaked English, German and official English.
The Leaked English demo is missing the xrendermovie.dll file and does not include 1st person
mouse-look. The German and official English versions are complete, contain mouse-look and are
available for download through any of the many mirror sites listed (above).
The demo doesn't work.
Does your machine meet the minimum demo requirements as listed (above). If so, follow the
more detailed help below.
Running the Worms3D.exe gives me errors.
Click on the run.cmd (in the previous folder) to run the game, not the Worms3D.exe. This
issue has been resolved in the full game.
Running the Run.cmd doesn't work/opens a different program.
If you're using Windows98 or ME, you'll need to rename run.cmd to run.bat. If you don't see
the .cmd part : in your current folder, go into view > folder options > view > and
un-check 'Hide file extensions for known file types'.
I'm getting a memory/XBASE_R.DLL/XLua_r.dll error.
There are compatibility problems with the current demos and AMD pre-AthlonXP and also a small
number of Intel processors. We are looking into a few compatibility issues at the moment - a
fix should be made available sometime soon, all being well. It's likely to be a replacement
.exe rather than a whole new demo. This issue has been resolved in the full game.
I have a resolution/colour problem.
If Worms 3D does not appear in fullscreen, you will need to alter your desktop resolution.
This is mainly a Win98/ME problem : on your desktop, right-click and go into display
properties > settings > and alter your screen resolution to 800x600.
I see black screen for 30 seconds/cannot see the movies.
See the above fix for resolution/colour problems.
I have noticed a bug.
The demo uses code from an old build. We are aware of all the bugs within the demo and the bugs
you may experience have already been fixed, so please don't mail us/post a forum thread about
them. The most common bugs are : Worms/graphics that get stuck in a position and a subsequent
animation loop and Worms that disappear, leaving the name and health hanging in the air.
